Getting started

Does it need an account?

No. Without signing in the app works entirely on your iPhone. Signing in with Apple is optional; it syncs your history (every app's daily totals on iPhones in the EU, the picked apps' daily minutes elsewhere), buckets, goals, streak and settings to your account so history outlives Apple's month-long window, follows you to a new phone, and shows up on the History and Account pages here.

Why does my history only go back a short time?

Apple only provides about a month of Screen Time history, starting from when you first granted access. Once you are signed in, we save each day as it arrives, so your history grows from that point onward and is no longer limited by Apple's window.

Outside the EU, Apple does not share usage with apps at all: the app shows Apple's own drawing of about the last month, exact but phone-only, and the long view is built forward from the apps you pick, as the minutes the app can prove for them.

Why is some usage missing?

Days before you granted access cannot be recovered — Apple does not provide them. We mark those days as unknown rather than pretending they were zero, and a streak never counts an unknown day as a win.

How do I change which apps count against me?

Settings → Manage App Buckets, or tap a bucket on the Dashboard and use the menu next to an app. Positive earns at your hourly rate, Negative costs once you are past your daily scroll time, Neutral is free. The "Suggested for Negative" list shows apps that are usually distractions or take 20+ minutes a day; swipe one away to dismiss it for good.

Blocking and scroll time

How does blocking work?

Blocking uses Apple's Screen Time (Family Controls). You choose the apps in Apple's picker under Settings → Apps to Block. With Ask before every open, each open of a blocked app shows the pause screen — what you'd be giving up, priced at your rate — and grants 10 minutes before it locks again. Once you are over your scroll time, opening costs a streak confirmation, and reminders arrive every few minutes for as long as you stay over.

What is the “Negative but not blocked” alert?

Reminders and locks only apply to apps ticked in Apple's picker. If an app is in your Negative bucket but not in that list, the Dashboard says so and offers a one-tap Blocked ✓ for it. You can dismiss an alert per app, and reset dismissed alerts under Settings → App Buckets.

Why does the Dashboard say “Blocking can't work yet”?

Either Screen Time access hasn't been granted (Settings → Screen Time on the iPhone), or no apps are ticked in the picker yet. Tap the row to fix whichever it is.

How do I change the Earn Scroll Time rule?

On this website: sign in on the Account page and set the measure (steps, or the Apple Watch Move ring), the daily goal and the bonus minutes. The rule is deliberately not editable on the phone, so it stays honest in the moment. It is a Pro feature. The phone shows the rule and today's progress under Settings → Earn Scroll Time.

What is the In-Flight Pass?

A Pro feature for planes. At the airport with Airplane Mode on, the Dashboard offers a pass of 1–16 hours: no reminders, no lock screen, and the negative-app time spent during it doesn't count against your scroll time or your streak. It ends when you land or the time runs out. Two passes a month, each started at an airport; your location is checked once when you start and never stored.

Goals

How do monthly goals work?

Every goal runs the calendar month and starts over on the 1st. Each goal shows a pace line — for example "12 days left · behind by 12,400 steps · need 11,300 a day to finish" — computed from the calendar: what should be done by today versus what is. A goal with a per-day target scales to the month, so 10,000 steps a day is 300,000 in September and 310,000 in October.

How do Apple Health goals work?

Pick a Health goal in Goals Setup — steps, walking/running distance in miles or kilometres, or exercise minutes — and allow the measure for Get 'Er Dunn when Health asks. Progress is read on the phone each time you open the app; the raw Health data is never uploaded. If a goal shows "Nothing counted yet", allow the measure in the Health app under Sharing → Apps.

How do linked apps feed a goal?

Open Goal Progress, tap "Link an app" and search for the apps you'd rather be in — Audible, Kindle, Duolingo. Time there counts as progress at the goal's rate (about 2 minutes a page, 5 minutes a word). If the app isn't in your Positive bucket yet, the picker offers to count it as Positive.

History

What is the Statement?

History → Statement says what the chart means in plain language: your balance by bucket, averages against your scroll time (days over, worst day, weekends versus weekdays), the apps you typically open, when in the day the time lands, and one or two concrete changes with what they would be worth. The same Statement, minus times of day, is on the History page here once you are signed in.

What is “business time”?

Totals always read in hours. Big ones also get a second, digestible number in time worked: 8 h = 1 business day, 40 h = 1 week, 160 h = 1 month — so 334 h also reads "≈ 2mo 1d 6h". You can turn the second number off in Settings.

What does Pro add?

Year and All-Time history with month-by-month browsing, App Intentions (per-app open limits with a mindful pause and per-app streaks), Earn Scroll Time by moving, and the In-Flight Pass. $9.99 a month or $59.99 a year in the app; $10 / $60 on the web.

Subscription and account

How do I manage or cancel Pro?

Bought in the app: Settings → Apple Account → Subscriptions on your iPhone. Bought on this website: use the button below to open the Stripe billing portal (sign in on the Account page first if it says you aren't signed in).

How do I delete my account?

Settings → Account → Delete Account. It is immediate and permanent, and it cancels any web subscription. Or email support@get-erdunn.com and we'll do it for you.

What is Demo Mode?

Settings → Demo mode fills the app with sample data so you can see every feature — dashboard, history, goals, the block screen — without waiting for real Screen Time to accrue. Nothing is blocked and nothing real changes. Turn it off to return to your own data.
